“I have no spur To prick the sides of my invent,but only Vaulting ambition which O’erleaps itself and falls on th’other” the quotation means that I have no incentive to prick the sides of my purpose,but only to jump the goal which jumps over itself and fall over the other. Macbeth’s ambition almost has a life of its own as it has power over him to complete his disire. Macbeth has given a personified ambition.

“Who should against his murderer shut the door, Not bear the knife myself.”
