1) The Nurse is very shocked when she finds out that Romeo killed Tybalt beacuse she feels betrayed as she was very nice to him and even helped him to arrange  the wedding.”There is no trust,No faith,no honesty in men”This shows that the Nurse is very angry at Romeo and is thinking that no man should be trusted.

2) Juliet  is confused because the Nurse is in a state of shock because Juliet thinks that Romeo is dead. When the nurse starts to talk negatively about Romeo Juliet defends Romeo because she loves him.”Blister’d be thy tongue” Juliet is telling the Nurse not to talk bad about Romeo.

3)The Nurse promises to bring Romeo to Juliet because the Nurse fells pitty for her.This is beacuse she would rather die a virgin if she is not going to see Romeo again.Juliet

3)Juliet’s language and the use of antithesis in her speech to the Nurse highlights that Juliet is trying to hate Romeo for killing Tybalt, however she is not able to hate him as she loves Romeo more.

An example of this is in the line:”Beautiful tyrant, fiend angelical”

This idea of opposites runs through the play.An earlier example is “From ancient grudge break to new mutiny”

Shakespeare shows that Romeo kills Tybalt due to male pride because Romeo’s love to Juliet has weakened him. Romeo has the need to hurt Tybalt because he has not only killed his best friend but he has also cussed him and ruined his reputation ” My very friend, hath got this mortal hurt In my behalf; my reputation stain’d With Tybalt’s slander” Romeo

In Act 2 Romeo sneaks into the Capulet mansion and declares his love to Juliet. They decide to arrange their wedding and keep in touch with the nurse. Tybalt challenges Romeo, Romeo arranges the wedding with Friar Lawrence and they get married.

Starter: Romeo asks the nurse to arrange for Juliet to go to be at Friar Lawrence’s cell in the afternoon.Also Romeo’s servant will go to her and throw a rope ladder so Romeo can see Juliet. Also Romeo wants her to put a good word for Romeo because Paris wants to marry Juliet too.

How does Shakespeare’s use of language in Juliet’s speech at the start of Act 2 Scene 5 highlights her impatience and the strength of her feelings for Romeo?

Shakespare uses the reference to time to show how impatient Juliet is as she had sent her at nine and now it was midday.

The nurse is a very protective woman as she is always looking out for Juliet. She is very strong-willed as she knows how to stand up for herself. She is also very understanding as she is allowing Romeo and Juliet to marry each other as she has already made sure that Romeo has good intentions.

Hello Romeo,

I challenge you to fight if you are man. If you were man enough to come to Lord Capulet’s house than you shall be man enough to fight me .

My first impression of Friar Lawrence in the the play is that he plays a very fatherly part. “That’s my good son” This shows that Friar Lawrence loves Romeo like a son and is very proud of him. Also he is very understanding as Romeo always comes to him for advice. He is very keen to marry Romeo and Juliet as it will change their families pure hate to pure love, however it could also call a lot of trouble.

Romeo has arrived very early in the morning to visit the Fair “What early tongue so sweet salutethme?”

Romeo hasn’t been clear in his explanation ” Riddling confession finds but riddling shrift”

Shakeapeare stages Juliet higher up in the balcony to show that Romeo is contemplating Juliet. It also shows that also Rome look up to her like a goddess.

The film interpretation of the balcony scene is different from the original scene because it is set in the modern day unlike the original scene which is set in a much older mansion. In the film interpretation Romeo breaks in the house to find Juliet and he expects to find her in her balcony but instead the nurse is there. Juliet is at the same level as Romeo when she exits the elevator, however in the original scene Juliet is in a balcony and Romeo is on the ground to show how he contemplates her like a goddess. Also in the film interpretation Juliet shows body sings in the swimming pool of how she wants to stop because she doesn’t want him to get caught.
